HIEC

Overview

HIEC, or Halton Industry Education Council, is a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Burlington, Ontario. Since its founding in 1989 through collaboration with local chambers of commerce, school boards, and regional colleges, it has focused on partnership, mentorship, and workforce development. The organization acts as a connector between educators, employers, and students to help individuals make informed career decisions.

Its programs and services are designed to support students as they transition from school to career, providing initiatives such as the Career Awareness Program, Women as Career Coaches, mentorship, and experiential learning. HIEC empowers young women and racialized youth to explore diverse career pathways, fosters inclusion in trades, and delivers online resources and job search opportunities within skilled trades to build confidence and support lifelong learning.
