Overview

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) is a statutory body established in 2008 to develop and manage the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) in Hong Kong. This 40-hectare integrated arts and cultural hub, designed by Foster and Partners, aims to blend local traditions with international modern arts. WKCD serves as a cultural tourism landmark, hosting over 1,000 exhibitions, performances, and events annually, attracting more than 10 million visitors each year.

WKCD features 17 venues, including the Xiqu Centre for Chinese opera, Freespace for contemporary performances, and M+, Asia's first global contemporary visual culture museum. The district also includes the Hong Kong Palace Museum and an 11-hectare Art Park, designed to provide a tranquil green space. WKCDA focuses on enriching cultural life, enhancing arts education, and nurturing creative talent through various programs and collaborations with arts groups, educational institutions, and communities.
