Urban Utilities

Overview

Urban Utilities is a statutory authority of the Queensland Government, known as the Central SEQ Distributor-Retailer Authority. It provides essential water services, including retail water supply, drinking water, recycled water, and wastewater management, to over 1.6 million customers across five local government areas in South East Queensland: Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, and Somerset.

Established on July 1, 2010, through a significant merger, the organization has become a key player in the region's water management. It operates a vast network of over 18,000 kilometers of water and sewer pipes, covering 14,384 square kilometers. Supplying more than 141,000 megalitres of water annually and treating around 124,700 megalitres of sewage, the company emphasizes innovation and customer service, community engagement, environmental care, and advanced technological adoption for better service delivery.
