Overview

Salve Regina University is a private, coeducational Roman Catholic university located in Newport, Rhode Island. Founded in 1934 by the Sisters of Mercy, it became a university in 1991 and currently enrolls over 2,700 students from 47 states and 29 countries. The university emphasizes wisdom, universal justice, responsible citizenship, and public service, preparing students for active roles in a global society.

The campus spans 80 acres and features seven Gilded Age estates, including the historic Ochre Court mansion. Salve Regina offers a range of academic programs, including undergraduate degrees in liberal arts and professional fields, 13 master's degrees in various specializations, and three doctoral programs.
