Overview

The Petroleum, Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa is the national oil company and a wholly state-owned subsidiary of the Central Energy Fund. Established in 2002 and headquartered in Parow, near Cape Town, the company is dedicated to ensuring the nation’s energy security, managing strategic petroleum assets, and investing across Africa.

As a fully integrated oil and gas company, it extracts natural gas from offshore fields and produces crude oil from South Coast fields. The company operates one of the world’s largest gas-to-liquids (GTL) refineries in Mossel Bay, with a capacity of approximately 45,000 barrels per day. Through GTL technology, it produces synthetic fuels and chemicals with an emphasis on environmentally friendly processes, engages in upstream exploration and extraction, and manages government petroleum reserves to secure South Africa’s energy supply.
