Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is a Crown corporation owned by the Government of Ontario, Canada. Established in April 1999, it generates around half of the electricity used throughout the province. OPG’s diverse portfolio includes nuclear, hydroelectric, solar, biomass, and natural gas facilities, and it is recognized as Ontario’s largest clean power generator, supplying reliable electricity for homes, businesses, and industries.
Managing 66 hydroelectric stations, two nuclear power plants, two thermal generating stations, and one solar facility, OPG places sustainability and community engagement at the core of its operations. Its Reconciliation Action Plan supports economic inclusion with Indigenous communities. OPG is undergoing modernization, including relocating its headquarters to Oshawa, Ontario in 2024.
