Overview

LeMoyne-Owen College is a historically black college and university (HBCU) located in Memphis, Tennessee, serving around 1,000 students. Established in 1968 through the merger of LeMoyne College and Owen Junior College, its roots trace back to 1862 as an elementary school for free blacks and escaped slaves. Over time, it has evolved into a liberal arts college with a rich educational legacy.
