Overview

Established in 1887 by Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi Bishop, this private educational charitable trust was created with the vision of enhancing the well-being, culture, and future of Native Hawaiian people through education. Funded by a perpetual endowment from over 375,000 acres of ancestral lands, the organization is dedicated to supporting Native Hawaiian children, particularly after witnessing a historic decline in their population.

Offering a comprehensive educational system that encompasses K-12 campuses in Kapālama, Maui, and Hawaiʻi, and preschools on Oʻahu, the institution provides college scholarships and collaborates with public schools to aid Native Hawaiian students. Hawaiian culture, history, and language are fully integrated into its curriculum, emphasizing college preparation, vocational skills, leadership development, and a steadfast commitment to educational excellence and cultural preservation.
