Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana

Overview

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Northwest Indiana Habitat for Humanity was formed in July 1986, and over 56 Habitat homes are located in Lake County, Indiana. Built with donated land, funds, and volunteer labor, the mission is to provide affordable housing opportunities for those in need.

The ReStore, opened in March 2005 at 6114 W. Ridge Road in Gary, supports building projects by recycling overstocked, discontinued, new, and used building materials, appliances, and gently used home furnishings. These donated items are sold at a fraction of normal prices to the public, with all revenue supporting the local affiliate's building program.
