Guldborgsund Kommune

Overview

Guldborgsund Kommune is a municipal government entity located in Denmark's Region Sjælland. Established on January 1, 2007, following the merger of six former municipalities, it encompasses 903.15 km² of Lolland and Falster islands with its administrative center in Nykøbing Falster. As of January 1, 2025, the municipality serves a population of approximately 59,350.

The community is managed by a 29-member council elected every four years and is currently led by Mayor Simon Hansen. Responsibilities include public services such as administration, waste management, and environmental initiatives. The area is promoted as a welcoming and safe community for international citizens and is engaged in climate projects to reduce CO₂ emissions.
