Bahir Dar University (BDU) is a public research university located in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. Founded in 2000 following the merger of Bahir Dar Polytechnic Institute and Bahir Dar Teachers’ College, BDU benefits from a legacy reaching back to the 1960s and 1970s. Over the years, it has grown to become one of Ethiopia's largest universities, with enrollment peaking at over 45,000 students.

The university offers a wide array of academic programs at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Organized into five colleges, four institutes, and numerous faculties, BDU covers diverse disciplines such as science, agriculture, health sciences, business, education, and law.
