Overview

Alice Lloyd College (ALC) is a private liberal arts work college located in Pippa Passes, Kentucky. Founded in 1923, it aims to provide affordable, quality education to students from the economically challenged Appalachian region. The college offers tuition-free education to full-time students, supported by a mandatory work-study program where students work at least 160 hours per semester to help finance their education.

ALC offers 18 major degree programs and 8 pre-professional programs, focusing on education, liberal arts and sciences, and business. With a student-to-faculty ratio of about 14.5:1 and an average class size of 18, the college emphasizes character development, leadership, and service to the Appalachian community. Approximately 95% of graduates are accepted into graduate or professional schools, and about 75% are the first in their families to earn an undergraduate degree. The college also has a vibrant student life, with varsity sports teams known as the Eagles, competing in the NAIA.
